Classification of electrical connectors
1. Multi wire cable connector
Multi wire cable connectors include DB connector, Dix connector and DIN connector.
(1) DB type connector includes DB-9, DB-15 and db-25 connectors, which are used to connect serial port equipment and parallel port cables. It is divided into male and female terminals. DB in DB25 represents D-type connector, and the number 25 represents the number of pins of the connector. DB25 connector is a common device for the interface between microcomputer and circuit.
(2) Dix connector: its appearance is like DB-15 connector. It is realized by sliding buckle when connecting, and DB15 is fixed by screw when connecting, which is often used to connect thick cable Ethernet.
(3) DIN connector: there are different pins and pin arrangement forms in DIN connector, which are generally used to connect Macintosh and AppleTalk networks.
2. Twisted pair connector
Twisted pair connections include two types of connectors: RJ45 and RJ11. RJ is the interface to describe the public telecommunication network. In the past 4 categories, 5 categories, super 5 categories, and even in the recent 6 categories of cabling, RJ type interface is used.
(1) RJ11 connector: it is a kind of telephone line connector, which supports 2-wire and 4-wire, and is generally used for user telephone line access.
(2) RJ45 connector: a connector of the same type, jack type, larger than RJ11 connector, and supports 8-wire. It is a common name of standard 8-bit modular interface, which is mainly used to connect twisted pair in the network. Because the circuits used are balanced transmitters and receivers, it has high common mode rejection ability.
3. Coaxial cable connector
Coaxial cable connector includes t connector, BNC connector and terminal resistance.
(1) t connector: used to connect coaxial cable and BNC connector.
(2) BNC connector: bayonete bayonet barrel connector, which is used to connect network segment to BNC connector. The rapid growth of communication and computer market and the combination of communication technology and computer technology have become the main factors to stimulate the demand growth of coaxial connectors. As coaxial cable and T-connector rely on BNC connector for connection, BNC connector market is favored by the industry.
(3) Terminator: terminator is required for all cables. Terminator is a special connector. It has a carefully selected resistance that matches the characteristics of network cables. Each terminator must be grounded.
(4) n-type connector is often used in the thick cable Ethernet. The workstation is not directly connected to the Ethernet network, but connected to the transceiver through an AUI connector (Dix connector).
The RF coaxial connector can be divided into the following three types according to the connection type:
(1) screw connection type: such as apc-7, N, TNC, SMA, SMC, L27, L16, L12, L8, L6 and other RF coaxial connectors. This kind of connector has the characteristics of high reliability and good shielding effect, so it is widely used.
(2) bayonet connection type: such as BNC, C, Q9, Q6 and other RF coaxial connectors. This kind of connector has the characteristics of convenient and fast connection. It is also the earliest RF connector connection form in the world.
(3) direct plug and push connection type: such as SMB, SSMB, MCX, etc. the connector of this connection type has the characteristics of simple structure, compact, small size, easy to miniaturization, etc.
Serial communication is a widely used way of communication. In serial communication, both sides of communication are required to adopt a standard interface. The connectors of ISDN basic interface adopt iso8877 standard. The standard specifies that the standard connector of s interface is RJ-45 (8-core), and the middle 4-core is the effective core; there is no standard for U interface connector, some manufacturers use RJ-11, and Huawei uses RJ-45, both of which are effective. In the digital transmission network, the connector of G.703 interface is BNC (75 Ω) or RJ-45 (120 Ω), sometimes 9-core interface is also used. USB specification (Universal Serial Bus) is a connection standard, which provides universal connectors (A and b) for all USB peripherals to connect PC. These connectors will replace all kinds of traditional external ports, such as serial port, game interface, parallel port, etc.
In terms of generic cabling, RJ type interface is used in the past four categories, five categories and super five categories, including the newly introduced six categories of cabling. Starting from the seven types of standards, the division of RJ and non RJ interfaces appeared in the history of cabling. Cat7 connector assembly (gg45-gp45) standard has been unanimously passed on March 22, 2002 (iec60603-7-7), becoming a 7-type standard connector, and can be fully compatible with the current RJ-45.
The selection of electrical connector includes the selection of environmental conditions, electrical parameters, mechanical parameters and termination methods. Specifically including electrical parameter requirements, rated voltage, rated current, contact resistance, shielding, safety parameters, mechanical parameters, mechanical life, connection mode, installation mode and shape, environmental parameters, termination mode, etc.
