Today's connector forms and structures are ever-changing. With the application object, frequency, power, application environment and other differences, there are different forms of connectors. FFC connector is a flexible flat cable connector, which is a new type of data cable made of pet insulating material and very thin tinned flat copper wire and pressed by high-tech automation equipment production line. It has the advantages of softness, arbitrary bending and folding, thin thickness, small volume, simple connection, convenient disassembly and easy solution to electromagnetic shielding (EMI). What's the difference between FFC connector and FPC connector, and the common types of FFC connector?
Difference between FFC connector and FPC connector
FFC connector is a flexible flat cable connector, and FPC connector is a flexible printed circuit. From the manufacturing of their two connectors, the way their circuits are formed is different:
1. FFC is to clamp flat copper foil between the upper and lower insulating foil films. The finished product is simple and thick.
2. FPC is to process FCCL (flexible copper-clad foil) by chemical etching to obtain flexible circuit boards with different single-sided, double-sided and multilayer structures.
In terms of price, natural FFC connector is much cheaper. If considering production cost, more enterprises will like to use FFC connector design.
7 common types of FFC connector
Type A: the two ends are connected and the reinforcing plate is pasted on the insulating tape;
Type B: the reinforcing plate is directly pasted on the insulating tape.
Type C: the reinforcing plates at both ends are directly pasted on the conductor;
Type D: the reinforcing plates at both ends are directly pasted on the conductor.
Type E: one end of the reinforcing plate is pasted on the insulating tape, and the other end is directly soldered;
Type F: the reinforcing plates at both ends are directly pasted on the insulating tape, and the inner half is stripped;
Type G: direct solder at both ends.
Generally speaking, the development of FFC connector technology has the following characteristics: high speed and digitalization of signal transmission, integration of all kinds of signal transmission, miniaturization of product volume, low cost of product, surface sticking of contact termination, modular combination, convenience of plug and pull, etc.
